Hello! My name is Carson Yow, and myself and Sydney run The Journey!
A little about myself: I am about to finish school to get my A&P license and be a aircraft mechanic. From there I plan to either go work for Southwest or go work for a medical helicopter company and get my EMT certification as well. I am a worship leader at my church and play guitar almost every Sunday. I also am a leader in the student ministry and lead students every Tuesday night.
Over two years ago I struggled with addiction pretty badly. I was using everyday and growing further away from God. My school-life was a mess, my home-life was a mess, I was losing friends, and my life was spiraling! Luckily I was given a second chance at Clearfork academy. I got caught up on school, did family therapy, and gained the right help to get my life back on track. There I had learned the tools I needed to succeed in life.
Now I try to share the gospel and empower the youth. Sydney had discussed this group with me months ago and I fell in love with the idea. We had realized that there aren't any meetings dedicated to the youth, and because of that is why we wanted to created our own. We did exactly that, created a group for adolescents so that they have a strong faith based community of recovering Christian addicts.
I love personally working with the young men in this group and watching their growth with faith and overcoming their previous addictions to pursue a new life and relationship with God.

Hello! My name is Sydney Pivnick, and I wanted to start The Journey after facing my own struggles with addiction. The truth is, I wouldn’t have made it through without Jesus walking beside me. His strength and love were the only reasons I stayed clean, and ever since then, I’ve felt a deep calling to create a space where others can experience the same freedom. This group is more than just a recovery program—it’s a place where we can lean on God’s never-ending love and support each other through the ups and downs. Even as a kid, I loved helping others, and now I’m able to apply that passion in a way that brings people closer to God. Through The Journey, I get to combine my heart for service with my own experiences, guiding others to discover the life-changing love, grace, and hope that only Jesus can offer. I’m passionate about helping others see that no matter where you’ve been, God has a plan for you, and His love truly changes everything. I’ve had the honor of sponsoring a few girls, and it’s been amazing to see God answer prayers right before my eyes. Being able to watch these girls blossom through Jesus is such a blessing.
